The LIFE HYPOBRICK project, after the first industrial tests, has started the construction of the first wall with bricks made without firing. The wall, approximately 20 meters long by 3 meters high, will use around 9,000 bricks made with the innovative alkaline activation process at a temperature of approx. 80ºC instead of the approx. 1000ºC used in the traditional cooking process. With this we have reduced CO2 emissions by 92%, the emission of acid gases by 100%, total organic compounds by 100%, substitution of consumption of raw materials with the use of construction and demolition waste, and reduced 90% energy consumption, among other benefits.
This is the first construction carried out worldwide with this type of technology, and the beginning for many more that we will carry out.
